When are the Lessons

This class combines short daily lessons with weekly live Zoom sessions, giving you both momentum and context.

During the month of March, Monday - Saturday, you can expect a short pre-recorded video lesson to be released at 9am EST each day. On Sundays, there is a one-hour live Zoom (which is recorded) at 12pm EST.

What will you learn?

The month will be focused on a mixture of folded and simply stitched books.

The first three weeks of class are focused on book structures and the last week-and-a-half are focused on adding meaning to your books.

Who is this Class For?

This class is ideal for artists, makers, and creatives who are interested in artist books as a contemporary art practice and want a structured daily practice, reusable skills, and a deeper understanding of how books can function as artworks.

Your Questions, Answered

  • This class focuses on artist books as an art form, not traditional or decorative bookbinding. You will learn a variety of book structures and construction techniques, but always in service of ideas, content, and meaning. The goal is to help you use the book format intentionally as a form of artistic expression.

  • No prior experience is required. The class begins with simple structures and concepts, and skills build gradually over the course of the month. More experienced participants will still gain new approaches, combinations, and ways of thinking about structure and meaning.

  • You will have access to all class content for one full year from the start of the class. This gives you plenty of time to revisit lessons, rewatch Zooms, and return to projects at your own pace.

  • Yes. All live Zoom sessions are recorded, and replays will be available to all registered participants. You do not need to attend live to benefit from the class.

  • Daily lessons are designed to provide momentum, not pressure. While the class works best when you engage regularly, everything is recorded and accessible, so you can adapt the pace to your schedule.

  • March of Artist Books is offered annually, with a slightly different focus each year. While the core emphasis on artist books—structure, sequence, and meaning—remains consistent, projects, prompts, and themes evolve, making the class valuable for both new and returning participants.

  • It’s a one-time fee of $197. No monthly membership required.
