Take a Class With Me!

My art classes are fun, fast-paced, intensive learning experiences.  I hope you'll join me.

"I just took an AMAZING in-person class with Julie. She designed the projects so we would not only have guidance and direction, but also have freedom to explore what interested us. it was so much fun, and left me with so so so many ideas to chase. Thank you so much, Julie!" -- Florence
"Julie paces the class so new techniques are broken down into achievable parts. The classes are filled with techniques so your end product is unique rather than a cookie cutter copy. Your individual style shines through.I like how she has students gather together at the end to share our work."  -- Nancy
"Just took a class with Julie this past weekend and it was awesome. She is real and her classes build from easy techniques into the more difficult. I highly recommend taking a class with her!" -- Jay
"Hi Julie, I was in your class yesterday at Sewing Machines Plus in San Diego.  I drove about 95 miles to take the class because I have been following you for the last few years and wanted to learn from you directly!  I wasn’t disappointed!  I’ve owned two ScanNCut machines and have loved them so much!  I still learned new stuff from your class!  It was really fun and I enjoyed it!  Thank you for traveling out our way to do this class!" -- Karen
"Julie is a fantastic teacher! She's very patient and encouraging. Even for those of us that take a while to 'get it'!" -- Mardi Joy

Here's what you can expect:

  • All supplies are included.
  • Workshops are packed with instruction -- lots of demos and tips.
  • You might want an apron.  Things tend to get messy!
  • No rigidity.  I believe in allowing each artist to bring their own voice to the work.  If you don't want to do something we're doing, you don't have to!
  • I don't allow students to flounder.  If you're struggling or need help, I'm there for you.
  • Verbalization is an important part of the learning process.  We will talk a lot.
  • Workshops are always full of lots of laughter and happy chit chat.  Camaraderie makes the creative process better.
  • You will leave feeling empowered -- full of inspiration and knowledge to carry you into your creative practice at home.
  • All levels are welcome.  Whether you're a professional artist or a super newbie, there's a seat for you at the table!

Upcoming In-Person Classes

In-Person Classes are temporarily suspended due to COVID, but I am teaching many of them as Live Online Classes via Zoom.  More information can be found HERE.

Traveling to class?

If you’re traveling to my home studio, most supplies are included, so simply pack your clothes, an apron, and any extras you might like to bring to class. For a local hotel, I recommend the Marriott Residence Inn in Watertown.

If you’re traveling to a class elsewhere and  need to bring art supplies, I recommend packing your art supplies in a separate checked bag if you’re flying. Tape all of your paint bottles shut. I like to leave a friendly note for TSA agents that explains that I’m an artist and the bag contains art supplies.

Please Note:

If you're attending a class at my home studio, the exact location will be provided to registered students. It is a private home in Watertown, MA.  Note that this space is not handicapped accessible. You must climb TWO flights of stairs to reach the attic studio.

There are no refunds for classes. If you cannot attend you are welcome to sell/give your spot to another person.

Please contact me if you're interested in a payment plan for class tuition.
